Friends,
When you have a moment, please take a look at this thread: http://forum.kungfumagazine.com/forum/s ... hp?t=46269
My Whooping Crane friend Eric Ling, who started the Wu Lin I Jia forums, just recently released the official website for the Martial Arts Gathering 2007 in Kuching, Sarawak Malaysia. This will be a tremendous opportunity to cross hands with many practitioners of the Chinese martial arts.
Sensei Kimo Wall and I will be demonstrating Karate and Kobudo and taking part in the Sanchin comparitive analysis workshop. Kimo Wall's friend and Feeding Crane practitioner Liu Chang I, will also be attending.
I know it is a very long way away from home, but if you have the opportunity to attend, I urge you to do so, as I am sure it will be a very special event.
Best Regards,
Russ Smith

Wow! That is quite a gathering.
My only comment is that it's disappointing not seeing a Uechi Ryu dignitary at the comparative Sanchin analysis session. The style after all starts and ends with Sanchin, and is closer to the Chinese ancestors than many of the Okinawan varieties.
Give my best to Kimo Sensei. I know you and he will represent Goju well. They are fortunate to have you.

Bill,
Thanks for the kind remarks. I'm sure that if any Uechi-ka are able to make it, that they would be given a place in the event.
I do know that the funding for bringing in people from overseas is something that has frustrated those putting together the event.
I'm sure the next gathering will be even better and there will be better representation from styles both Chinese and Okinawan (and beyond).

Russ Smith

Mike,
That's shorthand for "Spit, Swallow, Sink and Float", which are Tun, Tu, Fu Chu (or something similar) in Mandarin.
