I did RICE as soon as it happened. As someone who suffered her share of karate injuries over the years and who is a first aid responder, I followed all the rules. :)

What I have been doing now is elevating the foot in the evenings when I get home - because I just can't do that at my desk during the day - and rubbing it lightly (not massaging - it's still too bruised for that) to get the circulation going and basically for comfort (both physical and mental).

I'm also working on warming it up in the evenings (with a massage oil that heats when applied) just to get the blood circulating as well. It feels absolutely wonderful.

Last weekend I got a 45 minute reiki massage from a friend of my who has her master level and she has volunteered her services for as long as I need until I'm healed. I must admit just that alone is comforting.

Yeah, but maybe it was an over fancy way of saying "severely bruised" (probably BOTH bone and soft tissue).

<Sigh...>

Hell of a thing to do to get free massages, but I say go for it. Almost makes me jealous. ;)

Good for you for doing all the right things, Mary. And it makes me feel wonderful that someone's taking care of you. You deserve it.
