I went out with a woman (Kathleen) for 8 years who was a belly dancer. Before we parted ways, she became my first female Uechi black belt. So let's say I have more than a passing interest.
The very first tape you posted IMO absolutely showed the best skill. It takes a trained eye (perhaps with an appreciation for 3-dimensional mathematical functions) to understand how damn good Didem was in that clip. That was an amazing demonstration of compound movement - one cyclic torsal movement superimposed upon another. And the spacial and temporal precision was remarkable.
Oh... and she makes my blood boil.
Did I just say that?
Damn straight this is relevant to martial arts. We can only hope to have that much control over our core.
Come to camp some time and maybe Rory's beautiful wife (Kami) will lead another beginner's belly dance session. I was out there with the rest of them having a blast. Go ahead - attack my manlihood. I had fun, damnit!
