Fitness would be a must to maintain many of those unusual positions using the Kama Sutra. I always thought I was pretty fit and trim but I'm not sure I could get my body in many of those position, especially with aging.

There is beauty in the human body and beauty in the give and take of two people loving each other.

All the more reason, why one should maintain the body, keeping it fit and aesthetically pleasing.

So, not only should you stay fit for karate but fit for love.

Do you?

As far back as I can remember, the gym has been the place where I have met women with whom I eventually shared personal time. That wasn't a conscious effort; I've observed this after the fact. I think part of it is shared values. Another part is that physically fit people - of all ages, sizes, and personal dispositions - are just a lot more fun to look at and cuddle with.

Throw in a good mind and a great personality, and you have a winner.

One interesting comment to complete the thought here... Before my first son was born, my spouse (who once competed as a bodybuilder and was a track athlete) said she considered childbirth to be the ultimate athletic event. I'd say that thought flows right from a physical appreciation of sensuality and sexuality.

That said, I agree, childbirth is the ultimate athletic event. I had my first two kids by the age of 20 and my third child at 32. I started karate and weight lifting at 25 and, since then, have always had fitness a priority in my life. Up until the week before my third was born, I was swimming 30 laps to stay in shape. I felt fit and decided to deliver her via natural childbirth. Want to try an extreme fitness test? Have a baby ala natural. It is an ultimate test of the physical shape you are in.

That was, physically, one of the hardest things I have done. Great experience....without all of the drugs in her system. She is my 'alpha female' daughter. Great kid and worth all 19 hours of labor.

Thank you, Bill, and congrats on your wife for birthing two beautiful boys that way.

Vicki

What is difficult is when your spouse/significant other does not hold to the idea of keeping the temple fit and attractive.

You may still be comfortable with your other, love that person, but when the other doesn't care to stay in shape or make an effort to look attractive to you, it dampens the desire to enjoy such ventures.

Sad...

Happy weekend y'all,

On your theme of physical fitness, intimacy, and the kama sutra...

I have noted that women who were not physically fit in myriad ways (strength, coordination, flexibility, agility, body awareness, timing, mindset, etc...) demonstrated limitations in their love making. I've never thought of myself as a super Don Juan. But you know... You just have fun and like to do stuff - as the authors of the kama sutra obviously did. And suddenly you find out that your lover's leg doesn't go that way, or they get tired before you do, or they totally don't know anything about rhythm, or they totally don't get the art of touch, or they don't get the concept of build-up and delayed gratification, or they are so hung up with their bodies that all they want to do is lie back like an inflatable doll.

I've never found pregnancy to be an issue here either. I know some women desperately want intimacy when pregnant because of raging hormones. Having athletic partners who are in to "team sports" ;) is definitely a plus here.

And then there are all those times where "feeling naughty" is all part of the fun.

But I'm not tellin'. ;)

Rhythm...hmmm? That must be where playing a musical instrument comes in and is beneficial.....via timing and moving well.

Since I never played a musical instrument....my timing probably is not that great. I wonder if band geeks are better at their timing/rhythm.....in bed.
or they are so hung up with their bodies that all they want to do is lie back like an inflatable doll.
Man, I may lose on two counts....my family seems to think I am obscessive and, therefore, hung up on my body. Damn....sure hope am not perceived as a dead fish.

I don't think you fall into that category, Miss Vicki.

I'm talking about the kind of person who wouldn't be caught dead doing a kata in front of a group of strange people on a dan exam, or have never used their bodies for anything other than to eat, poop, and drive to work.

Martial arts is really good for getting people to get over their hang-ups about their bodies.

Once again, you don't qualify.

You don't know uncoordinated. In the years I have taught, I have seen uncoordinated. OMG... I am a patient man though. I view such people as personal challenges.

Damn straight. I'll take an average person with a heart of gold and a PMA over a princess - every day of the week.

And besides, learning and teaching are half the fun. ;)

....oh, I do wander. Forgive me. I got off track and almost high-jacked my own thread....silly woman.
Everything that goes on outside the bedroom.
There are always tight little cars, hammocks, the end of piers, the top of buildings on a weekend....plenty to experiment with outside of the bedroom. What a challenge to the athletically gifted or adventurous, innovative couple, no?
