About your post...

Cute toy... It reminds me of some of the girlie guns that are fashion statements - only worse.

IMO if you're going to carry a firearm - and that's what you are doing here - then why not carry a real one? A .22 calibre doesn't cut it unless you're dealing with an easily-discouraged bad guy, in which case maybe something other than a firearm discharge is appropriate.

Also... Remember Newton's 3rd law. If you can hold this thing like a cell phone and fire off rounds via the keypad w/o it flying out of your hands, then it isn't going to do jack. I'm a lot better off stopping them with my chi.

But... Cute toy! ;)

By the way, it's things like these (believed to be manufactured in Croatia) that are the reason why shoes, cell phones, etc. must be X-rayed before going on a plane. It's not much in the way of being effective, but just effective enough to make law enforcement have to take it seriously.

Bill,
Think outside the box on how this is used and who would use it. Hint, it's not about intimidation at all.

Cute

One or two .22 caliber bullets in the brain at a foot distance or so will put you down for sure. :D

Something we forget about some of these kind of weapons is that they're not meant for a fair one on one fight with both parties squared off. These are ambush weapons meant to take out someone without the fight.

According to the statistics that I have seen, that is the hyper-velocity hollow point. The top examples are the CCI Stinger and the Remington Yellow Jacket. I don't use a .22 LR pistol for self-defense, but if I did it would be loaded with one of those two brands of ammunition.

First...

I've seen the video of the phone-gun being fired. I guess Maxwell Smart would love it.

Note, by the way, how the user braces the phone with the heel of the right hand when firing. Using this toy would take a lot of practice.

Meanwhile, I'd a lot rather have this.

  • It is made by a reputable company (Smith & Wesson)
  • It won't raise eyebrows if you are found with it and have all your proper permits
  • While there's no disguising involved, it can be hidden just as easily. My wallet takes up more space than this thing.
  • It holds 5 rounds rather than 4.
  • It is a simple, durable, and proven design.
  • You don't need fine motor coordination to load it, draw it, cock the hammer, aim it, and shoot it. Show me someone using that phone gun under stress. No thanks... I'll take the Smith & Wesson.
  • It fires a .38 rather than a .22 round.
  • There are just as many - if not more - lethal rounds available for this gun
  • You can actually hit your intended target with this gun at something more than point-blank range.
Rich has one of these babies in his toy chest. While I'd rather have a small Glock, I'd rather have this Smith & Wesson ANY day over the phone toy.

And you can shoot it from your baggy pants or jacket pockets at 'slamming range' _

Imagine the surprise on the punk's face when the flame occurs somewhere 'down below' ...'WTF was that?'
