Jim
Also worth noting that instead of disscusing the actual issues, the actual context--which can be rather complex
, instead of addressing the specific ahm...."reasoning" of things, your MO is to simply post emotional laden pictures....another reason why I don't hold your POV as being very relevent.
"direction the country is moving"
What "direction" is that?"...Bush is leaving office...so in context with you whole argument by Photoshop thing, how can Bush be doing anything after he is gone?
And if its not Bush----then how can you logically single him out for being Hilter?
Besides, are you not aware that Clinton athorized the use of seriously more questonably methods than Bush---upto and includeing warrentless physical searchs of peoples homes.
Were not talking about intercepting somebodies cell or e-mail here---were talking about physical searchs.
Were you aware that many of the powers now claimed by Bush were first asserted by Clinton?
And yet I don't seem to see any pictures of Clinton being shown as Hitler.....no doubt you posted some and I simply have not seen them.
Since you invoked the Founders and presume to speak for what they would have thought about an issue.....pray consider the Founders pretty much felt that it was "ok" to shoot a man in the face for saying things somebody didn't like....dueling was not only legal then it was an accepeted part of society----at least one President fought in a duel--the nephow of sitting (period) Supreme Court judge actually killed more guys than Bat Masterson.
So its a pretty safe bet that the Founders had a somewhat different idea about basic "freedoms" and how exactly they were viewed than you.
(if your really interested in such things--the Founders also differed in terms of what we see as "torture" these days among a raft of other things.)
As far as the Founders were concerned I could legally shoot for insulting me.......how does that jive with your notions of "free speech" and "freedoms."
Also in terms of "where things are going" you might look at the things Lincoln did with habius corpus, the actions of the Supreme Court during WW1, what the Government did during WW2.......none of which were pleasent.....but none of it has much of an effect on the "freedoms" you now enjoy.
I seek to "minimize" hysteria-----not reasoned concern. I have no "respect" for the former...considerable "respect" for the latter.
And hysteria is, from what I can see, is your stock in trade.
By my "ilk" do you mean those people that actually think things thu or those people that actually have support for their postions?
"tyranny"
Well "tyranny" comes in many forms--among them the rantings and raving of people that get all hysterical over things and refuse to think them through.
There is nobody easier to control than "sheepele" people that would rather feel than think.
Since you already invoked Hitler---this is precisely how he came to power---focusing on emotions, getting people all stirred up over hidden cabals that rule the nation or the globe in secret--that the common man is held in thrall to forces beyond their control.....essentially your POV.
Hitler also used poster propaganda--simple emotion laden images that were designed to invoke strong feelings but little rational thought---now which one of us does that
Again, your the guy using the same tactic.... posting not reasoned discourse--but rather propaganda---and your even using actual Nazi stuff for your "cut and past."
The sleep of reason does produce monsters Jim.

How could i have missed this little tidbit?

WHY are reporters being arrested?
Okay, even if there were horrible evil protesters, why are reporters being arrested for video taping?

Here is this little tidbit as well i forgot to post.
ABC New Reporter Arrested During Democratic Convention
Asa Eslocker, a reporter for ABC News was arrested on August 27th wile trying to take to take pictures of a meating between politicians and large donors.
ABC reported:
“Police in Denver arrested an ABC News producer today as he and a camera crew were attempting to take pictures on a public sidewalk of Democratic senators and VIP donors leaving a private meeting at the Brown Palace Hotel.
Police on the scene refused to tell ABC lawyers the charges against the producer.
During the arrest, one of the officers can be heard saying to Eslocker, "You're lucky I didn't knock the f..k out of you."
Eslocker was released late today after posting $500 bond. (he put it on his ABC expenses credit card)
Eslocker and his ABC News colleagues are spending the week investigating the role of corporate lobbyists and wealthy donors at the convention for a series of Money Trail reports on ABC's "World News with Charles Gibson."

Video of a camera man getting hastled infront of the democratic convention.

These are the Democrats doing this, not republicans.
It's party blind.
The police exists to protect the people, not to push them around, not to be cronies to the government.

To serve and protect looks great on the side of a police car, and makes a police commissioner feel all warm and fuzzy inside, but the police exist to enforce the law.

What law was being enforced? Don't put politicians on camera?
And what law are they violating?
Doing their jobs? Reporters report news.
Reporters report. If they get arrested for reporting, then why have reporters?
even that police chief commissioner dude, whatever his rank was, pretty much said 'uh it was a mistake' if the reporters were breaking the law, why would he attribute their arrests to confusion? Why excuse it if the reporters were breaking the law?
What confusion was there in a man, who was CLEARLY a reporter being pushed around by that officer?
I respect police officers, ive trained with a police officer. They have a hard job.
But they do not defecate gold, they do not pee wine. They are fallible.

What's the matter, Adam? Don't you realize that a human being with a uniform, gun and a badge is more of a human being than you are? Dude, the cops rule, and you better join up if you want to be cool.
You can take a moron who has no respect for human life or dignity and put them in a police car, and voila, you have order.
If I was a policeman, I'd be gunning for all the people who made me and my office look like a piece of #####.
But I'm not a policeman.

But why is it SO MANY are protecting the interests of political parties(remember, im talking about BOTH conventions) ?
I don't think it's an issue of cops gone bad. Rather i wanted to clear up the issue before it gets brought in here.
Im more shocked how easily the police became cronies for those with power.
Why reporters?

"I'm more shocked how easily the police became cronies for those with power."
What makes you think they were ever anything different? For good or ill, the police have always been the enforcers for those with power.
That's why they call it power.
Just think of it as hired muscle for the barons and the dukes.
The sheriff of Nottingham.
Of course, we all choose to live under the barons and dukes, or we would have to become responsible for our own lives.
It's quite comforting to be told what to do, and when to do it. That way, we're all safe, and we don't really have to think about anything.
Please join us, Adam, it's for the greater good of the herd.
If you know what's good for you, you'll join us.
Baaahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!

I work with a guy who just became a cop. The crap he deals with day to day, would make me lose my mind. Same thing with firefighters. I don't know how these people have the courage to do what they do.
If it wasn't for the police, we would all be walking around with assault rifles, shooting people daily. If we wanted to live another day.
Authority can be abused, but it is too easy to lose sight of the fact that there are people who make it their business to protect and come to our aid, when things get truly ugly.
The Hero isn't a myth, there are so many, all around us.
