I wanted to send out a congrats to Norm Abrahamson for EARNING his 6th dan/Renshi. He passed a test supervised by Sensei Bob Campbell, 8th dan Kyoshi back in September. Unfortunately, he is being excluded from the BB Registry for all to see. But to all who know Norm - he posts here occasionally, and has attended many of the past workouts & camps - know he has worked tirelessly for over 30 years in the arts of Bando, Uechi-ryu, Nihon Jujitsu, and Judo. He is truly a student of budo and was duly recognized by sensei Campbell and board.
CONGRATS NORM!!

Congratulations to Norm Abrahamson

Mike
I hope all is well with you.
We always enjoy a cyber trip from Norm. He always has a unique perspective.
I'm happy to hear of Norm's continued study, and the validation of his effort by his immediate seniors. I am sure he deserved his promotion. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to see him perform. If you took some videos, maybe you can find a place to park them online so we can enjoy the perspective.
Give my best to the gang, Mike. And tell Norm how happy I am for him.

Bill, Fred, & Van Senseis,
I'm sure Norm is checking in to read your comments, but I will forward them to him anyway. Thank you. Whether or not he has the time to respond on the forum these days, I don't know. He has recently joined the great society of the underpaid. Yes, that's right, he's a public school teacher of history now that takes up a lot of time for a first year teacher. (good luck!)

Hi All,
Congrats Norm!
I was a bit perplexed when I heard that Norm's promotion was not accepted into the BB registry. I looked into it and it was a mistake. The policy of the IUKF is that any Uechi promotion can be listed in the BB registry regardless of the testing organization, with the submission of the necessary paperwork, fees, etc.
It is recognized by the IUKF BOD that the IUKF does not exist to police and dictate promotional standards or requirements to other Uechi organizations.
Of course, to be listed as an IUKF promotion, IUKF standards apply. However, as other organizations may have differing standards, anyone may list their promotion and the conferring body, if they have met their own group's requirements.
I understand that Norm's promotion will be posted as soon is reasonably possible under Sensei Campbell's organization.
Again, Congrats Norm and apologies for any misunderstandings that have occurred.
