old UVA website now new Glasheen website!
Thanks to the support of Sensei Glasheen and the prior work of Dr. Ian Jenkins and Tim Ahearn, who authored the old UVa website, we've been able to create a website with lots of good information. As the UVa group no longer exists, this website will now be supported under Bill's club, Glasheen's Asian Arts. Hence, the website is:
http://www.glasheensasianarts.com
There is much to still be transcribed and put up, but the website is up and running. Thanks to everyone's patience, as I had to teach myself html in order to create this site, and it's been a fun learning experience!
Please check it out and I welcome any comments, suggestions, corrections, etc.
Please check out the "gratitudes" page, as there are many folks who have contributed and supported this effort. More to come!

Fantastic!
This is great to have in a form where Ian, myself, and others can now start giving some direct feedback. I sort of read through the website and got a feeling for it all. There are a few mistakes here and there, but no biggie. We'll get them fixed. For the most part, you did an amazing job considering the short exposure you've had to this art.
I agree with Ian. You need to put yourself on the Gratitudes/Respect page. If you'd like, I can write something up.
Other than that, I have just one more comment.

thank you
I would be honored sensei, if you would write something I can add to the gratitudes page Re: my contribution. I'm very proud of the site (warts & all), but it would be odd to thank myself...
Looking forward to comments/corrections so I can continue to learn, & glad you like so far!

It's a dogwood blossom, Laird.
Thanks for the interest.

P.S. There was a slight defect in this round of patches. If you'll look, you can find it. The pattern maker fixed it.
- It was our local spin on the omnipresent chrysanthemum on Okinawan karate emblems, logos, and certificates.
- The dogwood is the state flower of Virginia.
- The picture has UVa colors (the birthplace of our local clubs).
- Dogwood was often used in old times for rotisserie cooking of meat. Why? Because dogwood doesn't splinter. The metaphor carries through as either a group or an individual fighter not "splintering" when facing adversity.
Thanks for the interest.

You folks did a super job reconstructing the site. I referred to it often when the original was up and can't wait until it is all finished.
One point - in the 'moves' section a backfist is translated as 'riken'. My minimal knowledge of Japanese, as confirmed by some friends who speak it fluently, is that there is no term 'riken' for backfist but that it should be 'uraken'.
FWIW
Still Super job.
Happy Thanksiving everyone.

Thanks Bill!
Interesting British Columbia adopted the Pacific Dog Wood as their offical flower.

I wasn't sure what the flower was on your crest. When I saw it I was kind of mortified. I remembered all those years that several of us bagged on "the lotus" on these pages. My inital reaction was is that a lotus...do I owe Bill an appology.
No Foul No Harm!
Good to see you folks raise the site from the ashes. Lots of people appreciate it I suspect!
