Did Bush play in the bush leagues?

Post by Bill Glasheen »

Whatever you feel about the Iraqi shoe-throwing incident, you have to admit two things.

1) The shoe thrower was deadly accurate with his shot - even while being overly passionate in both action and words.

2) GW deftly ducked the speeding shoe, and even smiled while staring right back at the man. Would you have done as well? Not even the Secret Service could show anything more than a deer-in-the-headlamps reaction until it was all over. So much for all that training...

Two shoes thrown in normal time

Super slo-mo of first shot.

Gotta love it! 8)

Post mortem on this.

Today the shoe thrower apologized for his act, and (ahem) asked for a pardon. Hmm...

I wonder what Jesus would have done...

I wonder what Saddam would have done...

So much for being a principled warrior for your ideas. Folded like a lawn chair. I wonder if he writes as badly as he acts. Then again, I guess he didn't get a lot of opportunity to refine his free expression skills in the past government.

That guy is set for life; I'd ask for the pardon too and then go retire in Trinidad. A Saudi offered to pay 11 million dollars for one of the shoes and an Egyptian offered the guy his daughter.

That's all well and good. But Bruno in prison just may have offered him a rear-end collision. Gay for the stay, and all that.

Set indeed!

Don't be so sure he feels the same way. That apology came awfully quick. And given that he's not in a prison under U.S. control, I doubt that CNN will be checking up on his welfare. This isn't just about your love (ahem) for Bush. This man embarrassed a government that was hosting a head of state. I don't see a slap on the wrist in his future.

The man would have been dispatched at the press conference, I expect, though possibly a few days later after having been endowed, via a slow ceremony, with the unfortunate ability to be in several places at once.

Apparently, Jesus would have allowed the shoes to strike him, commanded his followers to release the man and not harm him, cleaned and polished the shoes, and then presented them back with his blessings.

Hey Bill,

I saw on the news that Bush was praying for the guy's "SOLE"

Check out what Letterman has to say about the incident:
