India being big country so thousands of companies doing the IT Services business. So you will get all kinds of vendor. You must choose the vendor by looking past track record, domain specialization etc.
There few very good companies for bigger systems Like Infosys, TCS, WIPRO, HCL, Satyam where can be assured for best work. This will have higher cost too.
If you are small company can not afford the big companies mentioned above then there number of very second layer comapnies like 3i Infotech, Mastek, Polaris etc. Moreover all MNC giants have offshore centers in India for example Capgemini,IBM,Sun, Google, Microsoft, Oracle, HP etc.
Now comes the third layer company there you have to be careful not because they are not having skilled resources but because they composition of the team is made in way to get the maximum profit. So as Project Manager you should keep the control over the Developers working for your project. You keep good watch then you are safe.
Now comes fourth layer which are there for very tiny organizations, individuals & students. There you should know little bit more about technical stuff to get the proper work.
