Yes...it be good to know what research he has done and his conclusions. My dad knows a lot about this stuff. He's coming into town tomorrow for more medical visits. We'll have time to chat about this. I'll get back with you.
My luck has always been the sultry women love to chase soccer players in Bimmers…and Mini-coopers…. ‘hard’ to keep up with at times….Keep up with the booze, whores, and fast cars, Van. Better than feeding the government beast!

Carnegie was against leaving his children money because it would stop them from becoming all that they could be. I new a guy whose father was fabulously wealthy and he amounted to nothing and is probably wallowing in a drunken stupor as we write.
Providing for his grandchildrens education, and helping them become all they can be is something Carnegie certainly might have supported.
A book on Carnegie is on my short list of books to read. Got a stack of WWII books in the wings right now.

I know too many gay people these days to be hung up about any of this. Hell... back when I was around 20, I was hit on by gay guys so much that I began to take advantage of it. Late at night in Charlottesville I had no problem getting a free ride home from a long evening of studying. And from whom? Gay guys cruising for a hookup. When they found out I only wanted a ride and I wasn't going to freak about their intentions, I got service right to my front door.
As one girlfriend used to call me, "WHORE!!!"

And what DID they become? I don't recall any of them making anything of themselves.f.Channell wrote:

Meanwhile... The guy who created FedEx - from scratch - did so on inheritance money. He got a C in an economics class for a write-up of the idea. A lump sum of money later, look who's laughing!
It's all how you do it, Fred. Each family, each situation, and each individual is different.
Educating the kids is the biggest and most important financial gift you can give. It has the highest return on investment. From that point forward, it all depends.
For what it's worth... I paid for the vast majority of my education after high school. Why? I wanted to do it my way. It took longer, but I ended up with a degree that nobody thought would have a return. Now with health care being a big deal, even when I lose a job I find another around the corner.
Then papa is proud. And then... I don't need it. And then...

I've never been afraid to get to know anyone. Know yourself and you can learn from any and everyone.

Such a beneficial outcome for corporations could explain why capitalists like Carnegie, Buffet, and Gates favor a high death tax (I'm not sure Smith had death taxes in mind when he wrote about the Earth belonging to the living rather than the dead). Publicly traded corporations do not have to worry about death taxes if a founder/president/CEO dies, s/he is just an employee afterall.Bill Glasheen wrote: Justin
ever heard of something called a family farm? It's slowly going away. Why? Because of this stupid death tax. It takes a tremendous amount of assets in terms of land and equipment just to get started farming so you can produce enough crops to barely eek out a living. Try to pass that on to your kids, and guess what? The taxes eat up so much of it that they are forced to sell the damn farm to some land developer who converts it to a big-assed mall with parking lots so there is yet another place to get jeans and to hang out.
Nope... the family farm is dead because of our tax structure. Only good old corporate America can farm now. <snip>
Or maybe a mom-and-pop restaurant. Or grocery store. Or...

Van, You Bad Boy!!

The picture of a beautiful woman in black leather mini skirt and in black leather jacket, black stockings coming out of a car made my atavistic Mediterranean heart go into 5th gear. Another reason to thank God for being alive each day.
My preference, as you well know, is the beautiful woman's being a petite Italian Brunette dressed like that, stepping out of an SL 63, or as happened this weekend, from our son's Aston Martin Vantage. I was grateful that I was married to her when she alighted from his car, for otherwise my wife would had savaged me for trying to pick up that gorgeous Italian girl.

Bless your great-taste-in-pictures Italian heart. Woof.
Beauty is beautiful!!
