I was told GM George Pesare passed away. A polarizing figure at times, but he sure got your attention. I will miss him, he taught me how to fight back in the day.

Sad news indeed, Otto. We have all had good times with him and his fine students back then on the tournament circuit.

May he rest in peace.

I heard awhile back that he was sick. Susan just posted a picture of her, me and G. Pesare on Facebook, taken during the 1970s following one of my karate tournaments at John Hancock Hall. Sorry to learn of his passing.

Van and I will have to spend a few hours at next year's SummerFest relating some very amusing stories about Mr. Pesare and his history within the NE martial art world. He was indeed, quite an interesting person and very tough karate ka.

Yes, Otto..quite the picture.

Mr Pesare was indeed the 'Chairman' of Rhode Island Karate.

You might recall those wild tournaments, some at the Holiday Inn right by route 95 in Providence...and those full contact ones...

He sure made things happen along with G. Mattson on the tournament circuit...
