Hi all,

Just read this posting on a local police department's facebook status. A couple of good situations to analyze. What was done right, what should have been done differently, etc. Just glad neither of these women became victims.

TYPE OF OFFENSE: Suspicious activity / possible abduction attempt.
LOCATION: Cracker Barrel Parking lot
INVESTIGATING OFFICER: Bardstown Police are investigating 2 incidents of suspicious activity with at least 1 incident being am attempted abduction. The 1st incident occurred on Friday, January 11th, 2013 at approximately 1:30 PM an employee of Cracker Barrel was walking from the area of Chili’s restaurant to Cracker Barrel. While walking the female employee reports that an older white van pulled alongside of her and an n older white male, possibly 50-60 years of age, with a scruffy beard offered her a ride. She denied the offer and continued walking. The employee stated that the white male continued persistently trying to get her inside the van. While walking she observed a younger white male in the rear of the van an also noticed the side door of the van was open. The employee also noticed items that appeared to be commonly used by painters. As the suspect continued driving alongside the female employee she observed a man standing beside a truck in the Lowes parking lot. The female employee then told the suspect in the van that the man was her husband although in fact he was not her husband. After the suspect observed the man in Lowes he then sped away from the area. The employee then decided it may have been a case of overzealous flirtation and then shrugged the incident off.
The second incident occurred Saturday, January 12th, 2013 shortly after 3PM in the Cracker Barrel parking lot. The second victim, a female employee of Cracker Barrel was walking to her vehicle which was parking in the lot. The victim noticed a white van parked beside her vehicle. She was unaware of the previous incident at the time. As the female employee walked to her vehicle she observed the side door open on the van and an older white male with salt and pepper color hair and beard leaning into the van. She walked by him and he grabbed her arms from behind and told her she was going with him. She screamed out and an unidentified man in the parking lot yelled at the suspect to let her go and the man then began walking toward the suspect. The suspect then entered the white van and fled the area in an unknown direction of travel.
The van is described an older white extended style van with the first 3 letters of the license plate JHL. The female employee also described what appeared to be some type of cage behind the front seats of the van.
Both incidents are believed to be related because of the suspect and vehicle description and the location of the incidents.
The incidents were not reported to Bardstown Police until Sunday, January 13th at approximately 9:40 AM.
The investigation is continuing. Bardstown Police are requesting that anyone with information regarding this incident please contact them immediately at 348-6811 or contact the Nelson County Dispatch at 348-3211

The biggest problem besieging some women is 'denial'. Look at all the mistakes that woman made in the parking lot.

Another real problem for women, even more so than for men, that causes danger, directly and indirectly_ is their participation in arguments about politics, religion, and lately _gun control... because of the vitriol their views can provoke.

Best to steer away from all those and be the 'Gray Lady' out and about.

First I wonder if the first incident was ever reported to Cracker Barrel, as it should have_

Next what would Cracker Barrel have done after 'notice'_

Also wonder what 'history of crimes' that parking lot had on file with the police...and what precautions were in effect, if any.

Then you must wonder at the non-chalance of this woman after observing what she did prior to being grabbed.

Talk about condition white.
