I'm sure they do, but the process you'd have to go through to get one is pretty daunting, just like any other automatic.
Picking up a muzzle brake today. A friend who works at a local gun store keeps me on their shortlist for any accessories that come in.
As to the Ar-15/M1 Garand...true...disappeared off the shelves.
I can understand people's fear of those weapons, but why is it that law abiding citizens scoop them up... And all the ammo that goes with them?
Within a week of the shootings in CT, they were gone. Poof. .223 up here is limited to two boxes per customer, and it's the expensive stuff. The cheaper rounds are reserved on back order. 5.56? We can't get it up here. Canada won't allow it through.

No, it is very much those on food stamps, and anyone else not supplied (IOW, almost everyone) who may well be coming to your door ready to take what they can. The bankers? Not worried about them.
