Nice to have you back, Victor!

Very true post. I have stories I could tell about avoiding conflict and - in some cases - toying with would-be attackers. I can't say that someone taught me the skills that seem to appear when I need them. They just arrive. What comes to mind are the skills I picked up while a member of the drama club in high school. If you have the ability to improvise when things go wrong in a play, then you have the ability to manage yourself when predators are interviewing you for a potential attack.
