It just goes to show that we need to ban handguns and assault rifles so we all can be safer. There's no need for weapons that obviously were never meant for sport activities like hunting.

A man carrying a shotgun opened fire at a busy shopping mall in suburban Baltimore on Saturday

Oh wait...

Rich Castanet made sure I got my concealed carry permit, and then signed me up for a bunch of classes taught by a fellow who trains LEOs. I got to do some pretty cool things with live ammo, including having someone slam my arse down from behind and then forcing me to hit a target from whatever position I ended up. We did the Tueller drill as well. (Tom has never seen what I did to defeat it. ;-))

That said...

I never forget the demonstration Tom did one time with a shotgun. He prefaced it by saying "This is what I carry when going out to hunt down a very bad man." He then loaded a shotgun with a heavy slug, and turned a cinderblock into the aftermath of Humpty Dumpty's great fall.

Bullets and shot make holes in stuff, fingers run the platforms, people run the fingers! Is there an issue? Arrest people who illegally make holes in things and leave the rest of us with fingers alone! We all have fingers.

They don't even try to make coherent arguments anymore. It's all rhetorical.

What do you make of this, Laird?

What do I think? I think SSDD Van! (Same Schit Different Day)

Makes about as much as confiscating all the male genitalia in America to prevent rape.

People who have not committed a crime should not lose rights because someone else did. Punish the guilty!

Confiscating guns puts people in harms way , as it eliminates a viable self defense option when our life or our families lives are put in jeopardy. It also eliminates our ability to harvest high quality organic meat. It also removes a recreational activity in which I have invested significant time and money pursuing and have no interest in giving up.

If someone is afraid because other people have guns I strongly suggest they pursue this solution!

Cowards have been doing for a long time. It's a time tested method for dealing with fear. Don't get creative, the problem has been solved .... go hide!

I weary of the gun debate. I own guns people who have a problem with that can piss off!

The gun debate boils down to types of individual engaged in unending foreplay.

One side believes you are responsible for you.

The other side claims someone else is.

The side that thinks the state is responsible for their safety strive to create a social utopia where they can go blindly thru life and not even consider risk. They believe the job of a police force is keep them safe from harm. They believe that with more and more government control and restrictions upon the populous will achieve their fantasy. (this group believes in more government and more taxes)

The side that accepts responsibility for their well being thinks government should look after roads & sewers, entry level education, a court system and a penal system. They believe the purpose of the government is to serve the people not to rule them. They believe the populous should be left to their own devices. (less government, less tax) They believe police investigate crime after it has occurred.

What do I think, I wish to be left to my own devices. I don't appreciate the agenda of the left, undermining my life style and then expecting me to pay for it too.

I think these clowns should fund raise door to door. That way they can discover police don't keep you safe they investigate crime. I won't beat them long ...just long enough for them to wish they had a gun.

That's what I think!

Interesting indeed, Laird...hard to argue against your views.

And what do we tell people when they ask about our study of a martial art?

Ever hear this? ''So you want to have guns for self protection and you study a martial art...what are you afraid of ??"

 Great answer, Stryke...

But what if it is some woman with a husband at a dinner party that asks those questions?
Maybe you can tell her/them that you are a 'secret agent' 8)

What am I afraid of? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. But hey, can I borrow your forcefield some time?

"Forcefield?"

Yeah, you know, that invisible thing you carry with you that makes you believe nothing and no one will ever harm you or yours. The one that makes you think everyone thinks like you, has benefited from the same education as you. The one that makes you think there aren't people in the world who will shank you for the food in your hand or the shoes on your feet. The one that makes you think that despair and anger can't make a person capable of harming you with whatever tool lies at hand.

You know, that forcefield. And when that stops working, come talk to me, and I'll teach you about firearms.

All good answers, I guess, but I would like to be able to say something that leaves the 'wise ass' confused as hell.

I recall some 'half ass' once saying that by taking karate I wanted to be 'better' than anybody else.

Of course we all know that 'taking karate' makes us all into better men all around, right?

In other words if you were an 'ass-hole' before karate...you will have 'healed' after you get to be a Shodan and you will always do the 'right thing' from there on out.
