Robb from Sacramento mentioned on Van's forum about losing his AOL connection during a post. This happened so much with me and it was damned annoying.

I had AOL for a year and just dropped it in favor of Altavista FREE internet access.
Free email, web hosting(12 mB), custom desktop for news, sports, stocks, etc.

I've been using it for about two weeks at home and so far, no spam and crap. The only drawback is a constant ad banner on the screen (always on top, but that's minor.

I have AOL instant messenger to contact the same people as I could on AOL.

They have a few technical details still to work out with emails and web pages, but you can't beat the price.

Kevin,
How big is that banner?
640x68? i.e. All the way across the screen and like an 1 inch high?
Was thinking about signing up for a free ISP but i have enough banners on my desk top now.

It's about that size but can be shortened horizontallya couple inches. I've got a 13" monitor and I still get fair use of the screen. I only use it for this, reading news, etc. I don't need a full screen for that. Free is the key word here.
