Awsome Kali Seminar in Richmond!!!

Post by Dana Sheets »

First off my thanks go out to Rich Castenet for inviting everyone down and putting together a great event.

Raffi and Susan Derderian taught an excellent, almost 3 hour seminar on the basics of Kali (a.k.a. Arnis, Escrima, FMA) as a combat art. They covered one stick and knife techniques. I think everyone walked away something useful. This kind of cross training can only improve your skills as a martial artist. I'd reccomend inviting them to teach at your school, or at the least be sure to check them out at GEM's camp.

It was wonderful to see good people training hard and having fun.

Bill Glasheen, Rich, Vicki, Al, it was great to see you all again - it's always too long between visits. And it was great to meet several up and coming students at UNC.

And finally, another thank you to Rich for hosting us at the range. I'll work on my Mozambqiue (sp?) triple tap for the next time. Image

In all, a wonderful trip down to Richmond, and I wish I could've stayed for the second seminar on Saturday.

See you guys at camp if not before!

Ain't Raf Great?

My FMA skills are so old and rusty I've given up on them although Raf has invited me to train with him on Saturday mornings.
