my .02...
It is an excellent book. Both my kids loved it. I started reading it to my kids at the dojo and ended up ordering about a dozen books for the kids. The book does emphasis alot of the concepts of MAs for kids.
Maybe this thread should be moved to products but I do hope the book gets the attention it deserves..

Thanks, Tracy. I shall make an exception and leave the shameless plug here, as I have done on a rare occasion. It sounds like something worth promoting.

thank you bill. the only reason that I stuck my nose where it doesn't belong is that I have talked to ms. morgan and her heart is in the right place. she wrote this book for all the right reasons...money not being one of them. It is a labor of love for her. I believe that until otherwise proven..thanks again bill..

Mr. Glasheen
I was absolutely given permission by Mr. Mattson to make this post. He did not mention anything about not adding it to any particular forum because it might be viewed as a sales pitch. It's not meant as such at all-
I was hoping to get the opinion of some "Master" Ranking Sensei- humn- guess I did.
Forgive me
Thanks for the stand-up Tracy I do appreciate it-
shameless? humnn thank you! I am proud of the story.

It's OK.
Understand that we get spammers on the forums now and then. I usually flush them faster than most people can read them. But now and then - as with you and with Dr. Kelly's friend - I let one in when they have something legitimate to share with the group.
Shameless self promotion of a product isn't always a bad thing. I let (and encourage) my friend Raffi to do it all the time.
Once again, promotion of the product contributes to the discussions at hand.
BTW, Tracy's endorsement ranks high in my book. You've obviously "done good."

Sorry to be late is seeing this. Kerry Morgan is "one of us", which she should have probably included in an introduction of sorts. I read her original post, which did sound like a generic plug for a book. . . nothing wrong with this, because it was karate related. . . however probably more appropriate on the "kids" forum.
Had Kerry and her husband Steve, been active on the forums prior to the publishing of her book, you would have all known them and been much more understanding of any mention of her book. I encourage creativeness and have given "shamless" plugs to Kerry's book and Jay Nussbaum's excellent book in editorials.
The forums are completely under the control of the moderators and they have the final say in these matters. As Bill has stated, he has given a few deserved, albeit, "shamless" plugs to people in the past. That is his prerogative.
By the way, being "one of us", simply means that you have made contributions to the forums in the past and aren't simply "using" us to promote a seminar, product or event.
OK?

Where's the info on the book.
Theres a deficit of good martial arts books for kids or how to teach them for that matter.
If this book covers any of those, I would like to know about it.

Mr. Mattson is right, I should have introduced myself. I watch all the time, usually being to afraid to try to "play with the big guys" (meant with affection) but adding a post here and there. I've registerd here twice actualy though I couldn't remember my initial log in info.
My name is Kerry Morgan, Married to Sensei Steve Morgan for three years- together for 5. He has been studying Uechi for 28 years, I am a co-owner with him in our Uechi School. I'm 33 years old, mother of three, and trying deperately to get to a black belt test. The next step for me.
I have not had the pleasure of attending a class at the Hut, though my husband and I just recently returned from a class with Mr. Charles Earle. I have had several conversations with Sensei, Rose, whom I think is a wonderful person, very encouraging and gentle. I have been to numerous tourney's also, Steve and I brought a few students to Mr. Kourey's tourney last year actually. Had I had more courage, I would have participated in such tourney's. Being in the presence of such martial artists in humbling, as well as inspiring. I felt an over-welming need to try to translate for children, the gifts I see in this style of karate, and hopfully demonstrate in a novel designed to entertian, inform, and emotionaly heal children of all ages. Uechi has healed this woman, whom escaped from a very bad situation, and has given her confidense, self esteem, and discipline. (not to get Bob Dole on you all.
I just wanted to share my story, and honestly, hope to impress a little, these martial artists I had heard about, and watched. That's why I posted my little controversial bit without first introducing and explaining who I am. I hope I have cleared that up a bit now. I should have also spoken with you Mr. Glasheen- I apologise for startling you with an apparent sales ploy. I'm awefully new at this. This is my first book, and the first time I've really said, "hey, hi- I'm married to Mr. Morgan- yall know him, I know Sensei Van-does. *smiling* with a wink*"
Forgive a brown belt's ignorance- forgive my out-spoken nature.... I'm really just somebody who put their love for this style down on a piece of paper and got overly excited about it.
Most sincerely;
Kerry Morgan

My kind of person.
So Steve Morgan is the husband of the famous Kerry, eh?
Is the book sold through public distributors, or do we get it exclusively through you? I am most interested in purchasing.
BTW, remember that these "greats" are all human beings that put their britches on one leg at a time. Nobody was born to any status; we all are hard workers and earn our reputations (hopefully without seeking them) each and every day. That puts everyone on the same level as you now, doesn't it?
How old are the kids? I have two boys: 10 and 3+.

LOL
I would have said I'm the wife of the infamous Steve! At least that's how I feel about my Sensei!
At the moment Amazon.com is carrying it, a small store in Londonderry NH called Martial Arts Outfitters has it- but probably the cheapest place to get it is by me.
Thank you for asking about it. *looking up sheepishly...*
