I have been told that a black belt must register with the FBI as a deadly weapon, is that true?

Mavric,

Rest assured it's only voluntary... to help the FBI build up its database on the annual number of folks who got hurt or died from self-delusion. Image

Mavric,

I don't know where that tale originated from, but it is NOT true that a black belt has to register with anyone. In some states, boxers must register with the boxing commission, and many martial arts stylists belong to associations such as the IUKF or IMAF (my Jujitsu organzation) which may place certain restrictions on the individual.

There is even some states that have laws or pending legislation regarding licensing of martial arts schools and instructors.

I hope that helps,

mike
