changing the date.....

Post by cp »

I was just informed that the Dan test date has been moved until June 1st instead of the third Sunday in May.... I thought those dates were set in stone and only could be moved with six months notice?

Could you please point us to the relevent sections of the IUKF governing documents that cover the when and where of a Dan Test?

I'm terrible with dates

If the dantest date is wrong, we can always change it. I believe someone mentioned that we should have the Uechi Championships prior to the dantest, since a promotion prior to the test might screw up the division a student might compete in.

The tournament is Saturday, May 31st and the test Sunday, June 1st unless a prior committment was made for an earlier test.

I believe it was in an email that described the "New England" IUKF Standards sent out by Sensei Mattson last year, it waas also the email that stated the longer requirements for Dan rank. (min 2 years for nidan, 3 for sandan...)

maybe my memory is fading, I will look through old emails when I get the chance.....

cheers,

All IUKF: Regional Dantests may be scheduled at any time. However, every Region will publicize their test dates at least six months prior to the test. IUKF recommends that Regions publicize and maintain regular dates that is known by their members. In New England, the test dates are: 3RD SUNDAY OF MARCH AND OCTOBER, UNLESS THE IUKF PRESIDENT CHANGES THE DATE. A MINIMUM OF SIX MONTHS NOTICE IS REQUIRED FOR A TEST DATE CHANGE.

You're right... but...

Lets keep it June 1st this time around.

People from outside NE are planning on attending both the tournament and dantest and I would prefer at this point to leave it as scheduled and published in newsletters (both printed and emailed)

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
