Three Cheers for Jessie Lynch

Post by Kevin Mackie »

I was in awe of the courage displayed by this young woman as I read the story this morning in the Washington Post. What a fighter! A testament to the training and dedication of all our soldiers.

Is the link to the story. war ain't pretty, but it is always good to hear when soliders who have given their best are able to come home.

Her family must be so very, very proud and so very, very relieved.

For those who can't access the web link, here's the story from Reuters this morning Apr3:
"Rescued US soldier Jessica Lynch shot several Iraqi soldiers prior to her capture, firing her weapon until she ran out of ammunition, the Washington Post reported on Thursday, citing US officials.
The 19 year old Private First-Class continued firing at the Iraqis even after she sustained multiple gunshot wounds and watched several other soldiers in her unit die around her, one official told the newspaper.
""She was fighting to the death"" the official is quoted as saying; ""she did not want to be taken alive.""
END QUOTE

The news has changed slightly since this early report, but I say First-Class indeed. The changes in details so far do not diminish in any way her bravery and defiance.
What a role model.

BTW, I'm a Canadian, and despite what our Bozo-the- Prime- Minister says, MANY Canadians, especially veterans and those of us who are politically aware, are cheering on the USA big time.
I'm sickened by the UN countries now looking for a piece of the clean-up money when they hadn't the guts to go.

How could any rational person hope the USA wouldn't win??!!

Anyway, I hope this effort brings some freedom and prosperity for these people, and I hope they can adjust to their new reality (soon to be) in a manner that makes their lives better.

It`s definately some great news to hear she`s safe and well . i know it`s not pc but the thought of a women in those circumstances in particular ......

i hope the war is short as possible and the coalition prevails quickly , and the brave soldiers come home safe to a supportive and generous spirited public , they sacrifice more than we lucky ones can ever understand .

yeah Stryke I hear you. Coalition soliders who were taken captive in Desert Storm were reportedly raped repeatedly. Rape is, disgustingly, a very good way to break the spriit. Hopefully Jessie wasn't raped and from the article she's going to lots of good professional counseling before she's thrown in the media circus and reunited with her family.

And the best thing war is when they end. I hope this one ends - before anybody can push a button an cover Baghdad in some sort of nasty deadly mist and make a massacare out of it.
