Looking for a bone marrow donor. . .

Post by gmattson »

Hi all- One of my best friends from high school, Agnes Ho-Wong's son, has a rare form of leukemia which narrows his donor pool to Asian Americans. Those of Chinese ancestry from the Guangdong Province are potentially the best match and especially encourage to be tested.

Please help in anyway possible- by forwarding this attachment to friends, if applicable please get yourself tested and especially send your prayers for Chris and his family. Chris almost did not make it last year and his first remission regarded as a miracle by his doctors.

Love, Carol & David Moy

Tell David I send my most positive thoughts.

This is a real problem with some ethnic communities. A perfect match requires close ethnic background, and not all cultures view this as acceptable or fashionable.

Hello,

Could you pls post how/where information on getting tested and becoming a possible donor? I am in the process of rounding people but need information in order to do so.

Thank you,
William

Here's a link to the HLA Registration Foundation.

I've been a registered donor since 1991. Still waiting to step foward when and if I get a call.
