The only GM vehicle I'd buy...

Post by Bill Glasheen »

To my buddy Rich...

Now and then, GM gets it right.

If I was in the market for a RWD sedan, I'd bite. 8)

Note where and how they tested the vehicle, Rich.

I like it! RWD rules for pavement driving. This thing would run with my C4. In about 15 years I'll buy a preowned one as a project car.

They put a corvette motor in a sedan in the early 90's. Can't recall which one. They sold real well for a year or two, and were sought after used.
For a caddy give me a 59 convertible with those big wings in the back any day, now that was a car!!
Probably got the same mileage as a modern suburban.

Remember the Chevy citation/cadillac of the eighties......

In Australia, we put 350s into a Commodore (a four door RWD sedan) for limited runs. They used to be Corvette motors (ZR1, in particular), but we build our own, now.

I don't think that's the sedan you're talking about, though.

Interestingly, we're now sending you guys the two door version (we call it the Monaro) to be the new GTO.

According to the article, its supposed to be better built than the typical American GM, with a feel closer to BMW than Firebird.

Chris,
I can't remember the model but it was a regular model line car with the basic corvette model engine, a step down from the ZR1. I'll find out though!!
The ZR1 motor was made by lotus and was a great engine.
The last ones sold by GM without car were $20,000+ as a crate motor.
My brother had a ZR1, one fast car.
That monaco looks interesting.

The 94-96 Impala SS had a corvette Lt1 260 horsepower engine in it.
From what I understand they are a fun car, still hold their value well.
Theres other factory suspension mods as well.
The new c5 Corvette was introduced in 97 leading to the demise of that engine and the Impala SS.
So if history repeats the Cadillac will be short lived as the C6 corvette is due out hopefully in the foreseeable future.

Hmmmmm I just don't see it as a GTO, I mean that car just isn't made for a set of Mickey Thompson.....then again if you put a lift kit in the rear end they just might fit  . Looks like a fun ride.
