Police looking for suspect who abducted a woman and threatened rape

Miami-Dade police are searching for a suspect who abducted a 61-year-old woman from a southwest Miami-Dade bus stop and threatened to sexually assault her, but instead beat her.

The man, in his late 20s and wearing a baseball cap backwards, approached the woman from behind Friday at around 5 p.m., grabbed her by the arm and led her to an older car with faded black paint.

Police said the woman apparently had been waiting for a bus at Southwest 137th Avenue and 112th Street.

Once in the car, the suspect threatened in Spanish to rape the woman as he drove to a dead-end road and parked. There, he battered the woman, but did not commit a sexual assault, police said.

Eventually, the suspect told the woman he would not hurt her anymore and let her out of the car. Police have released a sketch of the suspect.

In recent months, women in both south and north Miami-Dade have been abducted and raped as they waited at bus stops or walked along the street.

''We don't think the cases are related since the suspects have been both white and black males, but we've had four or five of these attacks. People need to be aware,'' said Joey Giordano, a police spokesman.

Police are reminding women to be aware of their surroundings and use caution when approached by strangers.

A car drives up and a punk with a gun jumps out, grabs you by the arm and tells you to get in. You...
...do everything you can to avoid going to the second crime scene. The statistics on what happens to people who comply and go to location B are not good. Often it's worth taking your stand at location A, where you have some chance of thwarting the intent and full extent of the attacker's maliciousness.

BTW, age is no barrier to rape. A few Christmases ago in a mall a few blocks away from where I am typing now, a seventy-something-year-old woman was beaten and raped in the back of her car in the mall parking lot. That sociopath assaulted a number of women before finally being caught.

These are very, very sick people and you do not want to go where they want to take you. Do your best to attract attention at location A and take your chances. Odds are (and it's always a game of chance) you will do better resisting here.

Property is different. Give them everything they want, and let them go. And then don't lose a night's sleep over it.

Rape is not about sex a lot of the time...it is about dominance, that is why you get a lot of rapists attacking elderly victims. I agree with Bill..think this thing thru in your own mind.....as Musashi says put yourself in the other persons shoes. The last thing that a rapist wants is a violent, non-compliant,screaming scratching biting piece of wild crazy woman.
He wants a quiet, docile woman who will do anything just to get back to normality. If you get to the position were you cannot defend then comply and attack again...say that you want him...help him get his trousers off....then run away....it's hard to give chase with your pants around your ankles. there are other things that you can do as well. That are a lot more violent...he has got to expose some of his most vulnerable parts

Speaking from experience, there are a lot of real creeps who ride the bus late in the evenings specifically looking for women coming home alone - or even worse, watching where they get off the bus. So my early-warning responses are to vary the routes I use to get home and avoid dimly lit, isolated stops. If I really feel like I'm being targeted, I just stay on the bus.

If I was grabbed at the stop, I'd take the risk of fighting to get away before I'd willingly let someone drive me out to the woods, where I'd likely never come back.

Girls, it is surprisingly difficult to hit a guy between the legs, so don't count on landing anything there. My boyfriend jokes that it's an evolutionary reflex :? -- but whatever it is, guys can move faster than lightning when it comes to protecting the family goods.

I would challenge this. I know this is the common thought but you would be surprised how many shots to the groin we land in our training.

Often in Karate the groin is off limits, but in our school the guys learn to wear cups real quick or pay the price.

In addition if you drive a hard knee to the groin the reflex defence is to twist a thigh in the way – no problem the thigh is also an excellent target.
