I am looking for a school in Orange County, California. I live in the city of Fountain Valley, but my place is near Huntington Beach and Westminster as well.
I would like to go somewhere that has a good set curriculum that would be adaptive to my disfigurment. Right index finger almost chopped off completely by a saw. From my research, Uechi has a good focus on training the body, which is something I am looking for healthwise.
I heard about one dojo in Garden Grove, and any feedback on that location would be appreciated.

Dude if you live in LA then you should have no problem finding a GREAT school soemwear!! LA has it all and many top guys in many different arts out there. I don't think there is a Uechi-Ryu Dojo, but if I was going to train stand up I would goto Richard Bustillio's IMB. I belive it is in Torrance or right next to Torrance. Richard has all kinds of different styles for everyone. BJJ-Machado Bros, Kali-he trains w/Cacoy Canet who is UNREAL!, boxing-Richard is an Olympic Boxing Coach and his nephew was in the olympics and is undefeated as a pro, Muay Thai-Richard is a Certified Crue, and Richard also trains JKD and was an original student of Bruce Lee.
Also the Insanto Academy with Dan Insanto pretty much the same type of resume as Richards.
Benny "the Jet" Urguidez also has a school calle dthe Jet Center-it use dto be in Van Nueys and he teaches kickboxing.
Any other style that you ar einterested in post it and I will get a hold of Richard Bustillio personaly-He knows everybody in LA it seems so if there is something you like he would point you in the right direction.

My dojo is in Los Alamitos, CA. That is in NW Orange County. I have studied Uechi the past 36 years and am Kyoshi Nanadan. I am a member of Okikukai. My teacher is Walter Mattson with whom I train regularly. I am also a member of Ryukokaku, through my other teacher Shinyu Gushi, with whom I also train regularly. He and Mr. Mattson oversee my dojo. After Mr. Gushi, I am the senior Uechi practitioner in CA. (I say this with due respect to my many fine Uechi practitioner friends throughout California).
You should compare dojos and make the right choice for you. You should be allowed a free introductory class and have your questions answered. In my opinion you should seek a teacher that regularly trains with a teacher.
