I just wish a hurricane would come up the coast so I could test my sanchin in the yard .
If you want to really test yourself, Fred, I knew someone who was caught in the tail-end of a hurricaine once on his 29 foot sloop. Maybe he can "show you the ropes" and let you practice Sanchin in the bow pulpit?
And what of doing sanchin under a freezing cold waterfall?
I usually reserve those experiences during failure mode of another kind than karate.
Always with an even keel.

Stop beating up on yourself. As I said, family history is a risk factor. You probably would have gotten the hernia anyway; there is no way of knowing.

In any case, it's fixed. Done. All over.
