Yes you can update your modem drivers by getting the updates (if any) online at your modem mfr's website. However, are you having problems web wide or just the forums? How does the main page load up?

If it is just the forums, try this. In the URL, change xpres.net to abcisp.net. It is not supposed to make a difference however, I believe it does. At least for me it has.

Jackie,

Yeah, you can update your modem drivers but that isn't going to do anything for network speed. You have some very slow reply rates. you should email that traceroute result to mindspring tech support. That guy on the phone was blowing you off.

Thanks, Scott & Tony-san,

... I've already started my tracer file to send to MindSpring. I talked with another tech and he said that you guys had a good idea ..."it will help them discover problems along their network." See, and you're not even getting paid for this.

The problems depend upon the site's location. The home page loads fast ... The bulletin board is what is slow. I'll try your other suggestions and let you know of any resolution.

Just heard from our cable company that they plan on implementing cable modem in Jan. 2001. Maybe this will help, too.

Thanks for all your knowledge.

Hi ... just to let you know I'm still going back & forth with tech support. They keep insisting it's drivers ... though my drivers are newers than what the company has on their website.

The MS tech had me chang a modem string to at.ms=11,0 which helps me get on faster and I've finally been able to access these boards at home. Still could be faster, but it's nice to be back online.

I've sent them the tracers and so far they've not been able to come up with anything concrete. We're know working on DNS settings.. to be continued.

Jackie
