Bill,
Today is beyond violence.
NYC the world trade towers gone with immesurable loss of life from 2 planes crashing. Further explosions reported.
Washington, the pentagon has a collapes from a plane crash.
Both cities are being circled by Air Force fighters.
West. Penna another plane crashes.
All domestic airfare grounded.
All federal offices and many other government offices closed.
Two of the planes left from Boston.
Canada closes their airports.
The full impact of this is incalculable.
The ripples of this rock spread worldwide as no place will ever seem safe.
And the future loss of freedom to try and stop such activities in the future.
I have a friend, an Isshinryu Police Officer who was on election detail this morning and watched the entire thing across the river. Returning to the station everyone is in shock and tears, and he goes in later this afternoon to help.
God bless us all.
Victor Smith

My dear friends to the south. Here in Canada we joined with the many watching in shocked silence at the cowardly attacks on our friend and neighbour.
Our hearts and prayers are with you.
The deranged faction that did this has not looked closely enough at history and has not realized what they have awakened. Cowards all, terrorists have not truly had to answer for their crimes in the world. Never before has the entire purpose and focus of a world power been turned to their eradication.
In sorrow,
Rick

I am beyond grief and numb. One of my friend's has a long distance relationship with a Police Officer in NYC. She has not heard from him...
Another's best friend is/was a banker at the WTC...
The stories will need to keep being told and shared to promote healing.
My heart is out to all. Jackie

Some think we are in a dream as our thoughts create our reality day by day. Some believe reality is the on the other side of life where all things are from one.

Violence begats violence
While much of society was paralyzed, those in the healthcare profession had to continue without skipping a beat. Other than having our Internet connections shut down "just in case", folks like me who are involved with paying for such care stayed as late as always. Considering the efforts of rescue workers and medical personnel in the crisis zone, this sense of continued purpose amid chaos seems all the more important.
While on a break, I went down to the cafeteria where they had televisions on showing film clips over and over again. One showed the immediate aftermath of the plane entering one of the twin towers. A camera clearly followed several individuals leaping to their death from nearly 100 stories up in lieu of a more gruesome death by fire. A woman beside me from personnel gasped, and said, "They shouldn't be showing that." I replied "No...they should show it. We all need to be horrified by it all. The whole world needs to see the graphic consequences of senseless violence."
The silver lining behind it all is that we now have clear video showing bothcommercial airlines being flown into the twin towers, the awful carnage leading to collapse, and the clear agony of innocent civilians. For now, someone is crowing. But when we are certain who is responsible, our graphic presentation of the brutality to the world community will be a call to arms.
In a way, the terrorists were just a little too successful. For years, governments and countries have harbored people who regularly train to engage in such activity. Now the world can watch as the media shows how much we are all vulnerable to this senseless behavior. It should hurt. Financial institutions across the world (the FTSE, NIKKEI, DAC) should suffer from the effects of an attack on the world economy. The more everyone hurts, the better. Sometimes it takes a horrible tragedy to wake up a sleeping giant. As a country, we aren’t going to be that effective. As a world community united against despicable behavior, a solution to it all is closer to being realized.
Yes...I can remember the quick accusations after the Oklahoma City bombing, the Atlanta Olympics bombing, etc. We must not rush to judgement when we don't have all the facts. But in this case, the nature of the act makes it much easier to narrow down the possibilities. Once we have all those facts, then we can direct our anger. Until then, we become the beast we abhor so much.
And what then? Well no political cause is a reason to use innocent civilians as weapons of mass destruction. The nature of the act is dastardly. There is no excuse. But once again, we collectively must not become the beast. The solution is for us to follow the rule of law. This was an attack on civilization, and we must use the laws of international society to deal with it. And there must be no dithering. Should there be bloodshed? Only when it can be justified as a defensible use of force.
We all must be thankful that a handful of passengers in the Newark flight chose to thwart the effort of ba$stards, knowing they would die anyway. In a way, the crash in a field in rural Pennsylvania is a shining example of the best behavior of man in crisis.
In the mean time, the best revenge to such scoundrels is to live life as normally as possible. When we cower, they win. When we go about our business in spite of the threat, it drives them crazy - as it should.

Lennon's words imply that all violence is caused by religious differences - I strongly disagree. This song turned me against Lennon.
Some religions teach it is holy to kill a pagan, other, that wars in the name of their religion are wrong and prove the perps are not true believers.

As I post this, it seems some sort of arrests are being made in Boston. I hope they are justified.
There comes a time when even the most powerful of countries must take a stand - must use the power that it has to defend its citizens and its institutions from the barbarians at the gate.
Tom Payne said it - "These are the times that try men's souls.." and the heroes - and I do mean HEROES - of the emergency response teams, police, fire and hospitals from the New York area and those that have been flown in from all over the country (one as far away as Phoenix, AZ according to my sources) are laboring through what may very well be the deadliest single day in American History.
These unsung heroes, many of them wading through the shredded remains of those who died in these disasters will carry the burden of this event for the rest of their lives. My heart goes out to them and to the victims and their families.

To LeeDarrow: An excellent post and should not be offensive to any rational thinker.
How do you like this: "Every person is a living example of their belief system."
I created this axiom as a means of pointing out that you can verify a person's beliefs not by what they say, but as they actually conduct their personal lives and affairs, day to day and in emergency-reactive situations. Peace; NM

Gee, wonder if these brilliant master planners thought out THAT detail. Style points count, but the name of the game is to achieve your ultimate objective.

If, as has been intimated by the press and the White House, there were four targets - the WTC, the Capitol, the White House and Air Force One, then the terrorists were pretty poor at achieving their mission objectives from one standpoint.
While they did cause what will probably become the single greatest loss of life in a day, they only achieved one of their missions - hitting the WTC. The fact is, they missed on the other three!
On at least one aircraft, real American heroes seem to have thwarted the plan of these monsters by standing up to them and saying - "I have but one life to give for my country," and doing what they could to keep the monsters from our doors. There is a fairly good probability that the plane that hit the Pentagon had a similar incident as the Pentagon does not seem to have been the actual target of that craft.
Whoever planned and financed this attack spent a LOT of money - $25k/pilot just for multi-engine and IFR tickets - not to mention the jet training at a different school!
Good Americans and true stood up to these triply unqualified and unmentionable fiends and stopped them from doing greater harm, even in the face of certain death to themselves!
THIS is what makes America great - our willingness to pay the ultimate price when necessary - and forcing the other guy to take a piece of it himself before the incident comes to its lamentable end - all to protect the rest of us, without thought to the personal consequences. These are HEROES.
With profound respect for the heroes of the flights. May God Bless America in this, her hour of suffering.

I have never considered myself a native of the greater Richmond area. I guess part of the reason is because I spent so much of my life elsewhere before moving into these suburbs in 1992. Another reason is the juvenile thinking displayed on the Editorial Page of the local rag sheet. It's not what they say, it's how they say it. It's a strange attitude of "I am conservative and the rest of the world are obviously F**-loving liberals." kind of thing. A sixth grader could do better. Funny...I don't identify with either Republican or Democrat. That is beyond their simple-minded, one-dimensional cranial processes. Even this morning, when writing about the WTC disaster, the obsessed-thinking staff couldn't help themselves...
And then there it was, on the Op/Ed page. It was a jewel. It took me most of the morning to find it, but here it is. I am jealous; I wish I wrote this. My hats off to you, Leonard Pitts.
We'll go forward from this moment

Do you believe in predictions?
Nostradamus' prediction on WW3:
"In the year of the new century and nine months,
From the sky will come a great King of Terror...
The sky will burn at forty-five degrees.
Fire approaches the great new city..."
"In the city of york there will be a great collapse,
2 twin brothers torn apart by chaos
while the fortress falls the great leader will succumb
third big war will begin when the big city is burning"
- NOSTRADAMUS
He said this will be bigger than the previous two.
2001 is the first year of the new century and this is
the 9th
month.
New York is located at the 41st degree Latitude.

Nostradamus wrote in quattrains - FOUR line poems, which this doesn't even come close to. According to my copy of his work, this piece is no where to be found.
Just an FYI, not a flame. But this sounds like PsyOps in action - someone trying to freak us all out further.
We'll see, I guess.

Mr Darrow is correct.
Type in Nostradamus in any search engine and go to some of the websites that post his quatrains in english
I have researched this already and there is no quatrain that says what you have writen. What has been written above is excerpts from more than one quatrain.
It is someones "imagination" of compiling individual thoughts to create a theme.
I can take one sentence out each quatrain and make it apear as though it was a different prophesy.
