I like the thinking of one of John Mellencamp's song lyrics (I think the song is called Mixed Up World): "If you're not part of the future, than get out of the way". Many people are so apathetic, if something doesn't concern them, they don't want any part of it......extraordinarily 'self-centered' approach to life.

Their parents didn't model responsibility and didn't demand it of them. They perpetuate this apathetic way of thinking. Very sad!
