Dana. Thank you for posting. I enjoyed your seisan very much. My favorite section of your kata was the jump.. forward and back.
The only things that I noticed that you may want to examine were:
1) The wauke before the kick could have been a little bigger.
2) It looked like your right Nukite was a little low. I've always been taught to do it with the forearm parallel to the floor.
I I hope those help you Dana. There should be a Regional workout soon huh? I hope it's on a weekend I am not working.
Sincerely, Ben

Great comments so far. My thanks.
Robb - you leave me a bit speechless...I will say that you're the third person to tell me that I might want to lower my center a bit...so I think I'm going to work on lowering my center a bit.
I will go and read the article and I would like to know when we're training together again. My work will bring me to San Diego in the next two months...but I don't think Sacramento is on the itinerary. Within 500 miles, and still not quite close enough.
Ben - your oberservations are very helpful. One of my top 10 corrections in Okinawa was "larger circle blocks" I've gotten to some of them, but obviously not all. My knukite is not parallel, that is correct. Right now I'm thinking of that movement as more of a lever and less of a strike. Levers have suddenly become a keen focus of my training. Take a look at the chart below and imagine how that movement might work using someone else's body.
a mimi lesson on levers...

Stryke - I'm still very much up in the air on the transitions in all my kata. I recently stopped flowing into positions because I tore my karate apart (again!). So what you're seeing is me defaulting to "standard" position until I've got what I'm working on figured out. For many of the elements in my kata I'm working on full body coordination starting from the center. And I've discovered that I'm not consistently able to do that while I'm moving. So I move. Stop. Center. Then have a new centered start to the technique. Mind you - I've not forgotten the concept of moving into the technique. I'm just not ready to do that right now.
Also I'm working to better understand how ashi-sabaki (leg movement) and tai-sabaki (body movement) combine to apply the technique. So if I want to hit really hard - how do I best combine my tai & ashi sabaki. If I want to off-balance an uke shoving or punching from the front, how do I combine my sabaki?
By stepping off in "post" position I force myself to slow down, not worry about my hands, and focus on good feet and a good center.
Keep 'em coming folks. I've got a list already for this kata before Rick was kind enough to post it including:
too tight, arm movements are sometimes disconnected from the body, uechi glare/intent could be higher....

Dana:
You're right, it's a long way from San Diego to Sacramento. But, while I won't be able to train with you this trip, be sure and bring your gi and link up with skilled Uechi people in San Diego. And, if you have some free time, consider a drive up the coast to visit Master Gushi or Joe G. in southern L.A. county, Mike in Manhattan Beach, or Steve Goss in Morro Bay (the trip up 101 can be pretty spectacular at times). If you visit Steve you should also squeeze in a visit to Hearst Castle. Or, if you have even a passing interest in kobudo, you might want to take the drive up to Orange County and visit Shureido (they are just a few miles from DisneyLand) and pick up a new bo or eaku.
As for leaving you speechless, it was not my intention. But I do thinks it's important to recognize hard work and dedication, and to appreciate the fruits of sincere effort. Your kata are very good. I think the path you are on will lead you to remarkable results, and has already led you to a very high level of skill. I also appreciate your willingness to share your skill with us, and your willingness to share your strength of character and spirit with us by inviting critique.
Peace

My daughter is working on getting the Kata posted to the site.
I will post them as they are up and running.
Louis has been working on learning his Seiryu. We start doing the Kata very slowly and then gradually the speed increases so you can take the methods on to the next speed levels without losing the flow. I like how Louis is progressing:

Finally our camera shy Randy puts his Sanchin out there. Watch the loose power and you will see how he breaks cups:
