I took drum lessons for ~ 10 or so years and bought Micky Hart's (drummer for the Greatful Dead) book, Drumming at the Edge of Magic. It's a really interesting read. He talks about how Akido, asian Indian music, drumming, etc. all came together for him and influenced one and the other.

Edit: And if you think you know anything about rhythm or drumming, try counting out Indian music. Hello 15/17 over 3/7 time...

Would have been better if those Dead drummers had just learned to play in time.

It`s like karate , try going and buying a box of karate at the supermarket
