It'd be great if I could get a letter- in hopes of getting a corrected edition out- but it's ok if you all are super busy- I know I am!

Still no news-
but with this I can't help but think- no news is good news- cuz it aint' a no ya know! LOL

Can anyone out there tell me how to open a PDF file from aCD ? My book is in this pdf file thing and I can't seem to open it-(sent from the printing company)

You can open a PDf file with Adobe Acrobat Reader. It's available, free, for download from :

I have so tried that and my !@#!@$!@# computer is being PISSY!

I should be able to read this- file- getting cranky now- but maybe if I try again on this link it'll work- maybe I did the wrong thing before

Kerry on the above link is the page where you actually download the Acrobat Reader program. Once it's downloaded you'll need to install it. Then you should be able to read the file.

And 8.6 mb file is going to take at least and hour to download on a 56K modem. And probably much longer than that.

Hi Kerry:
I know I haven't contacted you directly before, but I've been noticing this thread with interest for a couple reasons:
Proofreading is a hobby of mine, I proofread the daily newspapers for errors the way people do crosswords. I frequently find errors.
Actually, almost always.
Secondly, I did an "eleventh-hour" proofread for a friend of mine and found over a dozen errors, which he was able to correct before his book went to the final press.

I have noticed from reading your posts that you are a narrative storyteller rather than a writer as such. I have not read your story, only your posts.
I have deduced that sending your story to various "proofreaders" is becoming an exercise in frustration.

I have a low-tech suggestion.
Why don't you do this:
Sit down and READ your story into a normal low-tech cassette recorder.
Use perhaps one cassette per chapter.
Then, have a professional stenographer (they type from recordings) type your story to print.
They will not misinterpret various English words which sound alike but are spelled differently.
They will insert the correct punctuation and paragraphing.
They will not make errors in typing or formatting; they will word-process the result, inform you of any inconsistencies and you will have a perfect manuscript to submit for the final edit.

This may be a way to short-cut all this frustration you experiencing getting your story to print.

Wow- 2 Green- awesome suggestion- how would I go about finding someone like that? And is it expensive?

I was able to open the file- with my son's help- It was my stupid computer. I'm going through it now to see if one of the files was the correct one to be printed- and they printed the wrong one.

We'll see what happens next.

2 Green- I'd ask if you'd like a copy- but in it's current state it would probably drive you nuts LOL. Story's kinda cool though- if you'd like to read it for that-

I was hoping to be able to take you-all-up on your offer to write a little letter for me? I know you guys are just swamped with work and teaching- we are as well- and I've already sent out a few submissions, but if maybe in the next week or two I could get some of those letters, it would really help me to get this story to an agent or whatever. If they see that people are interested in the story- and not just "friends" persay- but Sensei's in the business- we just might be able to get this children's Uechi-Ryu story out there into the main strteam- could mean more students eventualy for you all! Please? LOL
