For those who are interested in Olympic karate.

Today, I received the following notice from the USA-NKF headquarters. Whoever is elected as an athlete representative will probably be heavily involved in working to have the IOC adopt the sport during their 2009 deliberations in Denmark. As an aside, the USA-NKF is the USA affiliate of the WKF which is the only body recognized for sport karate by the IOC.

Please take note that this announcement is not meant to stir any controversy. It is only meant for those who are interested in such activities.

We will be having elections for the USA-NKF Representative and Alternate Representative to the USOC Athlete Advisory Committee (AAC). Nominations will start Thursday, December 18. Athletes who have competed in Operation Gold events (World Championships, Pan American Games, and World Games) are eligible to run and vote. Full details of the election procedure, eligibility requirements, and job description are available via the athlete section of the USA-NKF website.
