Watch his back instead of his hands.
Hi Dana,

Here is Kusano Sensei performing Hakucho kata. It is taken from a different vantage point and you have a nice opportunity to see the techniques.

Yoroshiku,
Thank you for that Jim. The form simply fascinates me.
Did you show compassion today?

Tou'on Ryu Crane Kata "Naipai"

Post by Kuma-de »

Juhatso Kyoda was a contemporary of Miyagi Chojun Sensei but his senpai in the dojo. He was older and trained with Higaonna Kanryo for many years.

After Higaonna's death and Miyagi naming his style as Goju Ryu Kyoda named his style Tou'on Ryu. For more info:

Here's some footage of Tou'on-ryu inheritor, Kanzaki Shigekazu [who studied under Kyoda Juhatsu], performing their version of Go Kenki's Nepai kata. Gokenki was a Chinese Merchant and was instrumental in disseminating White Crane Kung fu in Okinawa having befriended Kyoda, Migai, Mabuni and others, teaching at the groups "Research Institute".

Listen and watch carefully for the sounds and movements of the "White Crane":
