How about arms, drugs and banking. Maybe after that you could throw in legal commodities and real estate and such.
What people miss is that "power" has no party, or for that matter borders.

I hear what you say about power not necessarily needing a political party or a border. But those two entities are very useful tools to achieve an end.

No, I wouldn't say that, and I'm not saying it to be critical. In fact I don't know whether to love it or hate it. I'm simply acknowledging that Bush made his opposition feel helpless and ignored by projecting the vibe that he was impervious to public opinion. He takes great pride in it, actually.
