Illinois will begin using photo radar in freeway work zones in July. Beginning in July the State of Illinois will use speed cameras in areas designated as "Work Zones" on major freeways. Anyone caught by these devices will be mailed a $375.00 ticket for the FIRST offense, but the SECOND offense will cost $1000.00 and comes with a 90-Day suspension.
Drivers will also receive demerit points against their license, which allows insurance companies to raise their rates. This represents the harshest penalty structure yet for a city or state using PHOTO enforcement. The State will begin with TWO camera vans issuing tickets in work zones with speed limits lowered to 45 MPH. Photographs of both the Driver's face and License plate are taken.

The way some bastards drive on the roads...they deserve all they get.
Just today I saw a pick up truck _ speeding_ cutting in and out of lanes_ the ass driving it with his left arm out he window playing 'macho man' _ then flipping his piece of sh-it over into the median.
Probably wasn't even wearing a seat belt....that's for wussies...you know...

Problem is Van a guy like that probably just stole his plate from a Walmart parking lot. So to add insult to injury they photo him with the plate and you get a ticket in the mail after paying your lost license plate fee.
And why is the state sharing information with insurance companies in the first place? Obviously not telling them I'm a good driver as I don't see any deep discounts.
Fight back with technology I say.

It's only going to get worse, folks. The computers in your car more and more will be capable of tattling on you and your driving habits. Many high tech automobiles now have "black box" technology that will record your actions the same way the black boxes in planes can do the same.
But wait, there's more!
The computer chips in your cell phone now can be hijacked with viruses and spyware. Your phone mike can listen to you, and your cell phone camera can watch you. Even turning your phone off won't stop it. Only removing the battery will disable the software. There's a pretty interesting case of harassment and death threats in California now, with homeland security getting involved.
All this wonderful technology can work on both sides of the fence. It's best to have it working for you, and know how it can be used against you.
