Richmond robbers can't get no respect

Post by Bill Glasheen »

The more I read this, the more it made me laugh. Holy cow!!

I know it's a pedagogical device, but... Very often people on these Forums try to make "bad guys" out to be inhuman superbeasts who will eat your children for lunch. But the truth is, they put their Fruit-o-the-Looms on one leg at a time - just like the rest of us.

Youth arrested in fast-food window

Friday, Nov 16, 2007 - 12:08 AM Updated: 12:54 AM

It's hard to slip through a McDonald's takeout window, especially when you weigh some 520 times more than a quarter-pounder.

A 17-year-old was in custody yesterday after Henrico County police arrested him Wednesday night as he was trying to squeeze through the drive-through window at a McDonald's at 5602 Chamberlayne Ave.

Authorities declined to name the juvenile, who was armed with a long-barreled weapon, but said they will attempt to try him as an adult.

He is charged with robbery and abduction, as well as two counts of use of a firearm, conspiracy and wearing a mask in public.

According to police, officers arrived at the restaurant about 10:30 p.m. and saw a youth inside with a gun. The building was cornered when the youth did his unsuccessful imitation of a to-go order.

The youth also is charged with attempted robbery earlier Wednesday of a Days Inn at 5701 Chamberlayne Ave.

In that incident, according to police, a person wearing a red bandanna over his face, weighing as much as 130 pounds and brandishing a rifle, demanded money from a desk clerk who ran to safety. No money was taken.
