The ACC bowl domination commences

Post by Bill Glasheen »

Eight Atlantic Coast Conference football teams made it into bowls this year. So far, Boston College comes up with the first conference win - a 24-21 thriller against Michigan State.

Matt Ryan is a future top-tier NFL quarterback. Mark my word!

And the story continues. Twenty-four unanswered second half points for Wake Forest University. U Conn goes home with tails between legs.

Little old WFU beats the team tied for first in the Big East. And U Conn's only other non-conference loss? Against none other than UVa. ;)

Tough loss for my Hoos. The mistake-free offense shut down with their quarterback (Sewell) injury. There was one TD with the freshman QB replacement, but it wasn't enough firepower to maintain their 14 point lead.

A few records were set in this game. Second longest TD run (96 yards) ever in a bowl game by Virginia's Simpson. There were also two (2) safeties from QB sacks by Virginia in their end zone.

Chris Long's going to have a long career in the NFL, and likely will finish it in broadcasting - just like his dad.
