Heroes

Post by AAAhmed46 »

Heroes, i enjoy this show...but i noticed they have pretty much ripped off almost every x-men story line ever(if you read the comics)

I don't mind, i always wanted to see the x-men stories in live action(no the movies are too rushed)

but really, it should be renamed x-men.

Which storylines are you referring to? I grew up reading X-Men, but I have watched two seasons of Heroes without feeling a bit of that.

X-Men was never that intricately interwoven.

The whole prejudice issues in the first season.

second and third:
The dude from the future trying to avert and apocolyptic future, ie age of apocalypse and Bishop coming around every now and then, infact, this current season SO FAR looks alot like when cable came back in time. Age of apocalypse.

The magnetism controlling villain with a german name: they literally call him Ze German. Might as well name him Erik and give him a red suit.
-Magneto

Tragic time traveling crusader comes back from the future to prevent a futuristic apocalypse
-rachel summers, cable, bishop, etc

Peter, Nathan and Sylar (real name Gabriel) are apparently brothers, and that story arc comes directly to us from the x-men Summers brothers story: Scott, Alex and Gabriel (they even have similar name thingies. ).

It's more intricatly woven because it's designed for an older audience and different generation.

Hell the comics them selves have become more intricate now as the readers grew up.

Besides, heroes is the live action x-men...how x-men should have been.

I love the series, it's awesome.

Just saying i think it was inspired by x-men.

I keep watching because I like comic books too much and this is the first comic book like TV series that has a decent production value

yes, they are doing a much better job of it.

Ok, I'm with you so far.

Huh? Are you referring to the original bad guy? His (and the passionate twin's) powers reminded me more of Rogue, actuallly. It's gotta be hard as hell to come up with an original power. Todd McFarlane didn't even try to go that route when he came up with Spawn. That was about the time Image and one or two others exploded onto the scene, providing the first real competition the comics market had seen in decades. Post-Marvel/DC is tough; they took the superhero gig about as far as it could go.

There are far more similarities.

Warren Worthington being the rich, priviliged, thoughtless #### who can fly; the politician twin being a rich, privelidged, thoughtless #### who can fly...

The cheerleader with an attitude who can heal from any wound; The cheerleader with claws and an attitude and can heal from any wound....

The cheerleader's dad always reminded me of Nick Fury. Just the look of him, his always being in control and at the bottom of everything...

Bishop/time-traveller is a weak comparison. Bishop couldn't control his time-travelling, and his discovery of the future was quite by accident, rather than by birth. I did, however, note immediately the similarities between the alternate futures of Heroes, and the Days of Future Past and Onslaught/Assassination of Prof X storylines.

The black guy reminded me of Sandman and Shadowcat, and maybe even Magik, Collosus' sister (I still have the issue Illyana died in, somewhere).

The schizo mom was inspiringly original. I loved it.
Peter, Nathan and Sylar (real name Gabriel) are apparently brothers, and that story arc comes directly to us from the x-men Summers brothers story: Scott, Alex and Gabriel (they even have similar name thingies. ).
Gabriel... Gabriel... doesn't ring a bell, unless that's Scott and Alex's father? The leader of that funky-looking batch of space mercs? Frankly, Mr. Sinnister's relation to the Summers is closer in comparison to Sylar's interest in the twins of Heroes.
It's more intricatly woven because it's designed for an older audience and different generation.

Hell the comics them selves have become more intricate now as the readers grew up.
Ugh. They rewrote the early x-men stuff. That was sad: they had Wolverine acting like a hormone-laden, angst-driven teenager. It was pathetic. I stopped bothering to read it.

I liked the first season of Heroes alot. The second had fewer episodes and more characters, which didn't work as well, IMO. I haven't had a chance to watch more.

Man, I feel like a total geek after this post.

Yeah they ruined wolverine, they cut off his nuts.

I was referring to comics themselves overall, not just x-men. x-men...it's up and down. It's hit or miss.

And claire reminds me of that new 'female' wolverine running around right now, x-23

Don't your remember that whole Summers brother plot?

I personally did not read all the comics relating to that.

So far, i look at x-men today, seems like they want us to forget about the whole thing. maybe they reticonned it, want us to believe scott Summers had no brother.

Did you see the season premeir for this season?

Thats where the german shows up.

I wasn't even aware there would be a third season. :) We don't get broadcast networks here.

I think the Summers plot you refer to was before I got into X-Men. For a time, I only paid attention to Superman and Batman. It wasn't really until Eighth grade that I picked up a Thor annual and found the wide world of Marvel. I was hooked for years after that. I collected comics until I left the army in '98. Mostly I just peruse graphic novels now, and enjoy the spate of well-done movies. I'm looking forward to the Avengers making their big-screen debut, though I'm hoping they don't bother with Ant-man. I'd rather see the Wasp. :D

I don't like comic books myself, but I think most printed and film pieces considered 'dorky' are usually the most thought provoking. Try to find an episode of Star Trek (any of them) that ISN'T referring to various pertinent (modern day) social issues.

Cliche and recycled concepts. What the ##### is up with the PAINTING? And what the ##### is up with the recycled plot devices?

They keep running the badguys based on one-up-manship. Magneto wasn't a badass because he was way more powerful than everyone else, he was a badass because he was seriously twisted and thought in giant, but straight forward grand plans of global importance.

The new super dudes are ##### lame.

What's your power?

"Oh, I'm sorta strong sometimes but only when people are afraid of me, but I'm not invulnerable or anything. The rest of the time I'm a skinny black dude. That nobody with any balls would ever be scared of just because I kinda look like a stiff breeze could blow me over."

HUh... OK... Nikki twin. Cool, you're a clone. Like Madeline Pryor. What's your power?

"I freeze stuff."

COOL! Like ice man? Can you shoot frost beams or make objects out of ice?

"no..."

Ok, can you slide around on an ice sled to imitate limited flight powers?

"no..."

Ok, can you like, turn your body into solid ice or make ice armor or make everything around you super super cold?

"Uh, no, I can only freeze stuff I'm touching."

So, like, totally you can only destroy things you're actually touching at the time and are totally ##### if somebody points a gun at you.

Damn it. Ok, contestant number three... what's your power?

"I steal other peoples powers."

Oh, you mean like, I dunno, two of the other characters we ALREADY have on the show?

"Yeah.. but I'm special because I'm the BIG BAD EVIL GUY for the entire season."

Like Sylar was for like, two seasons in a row?

"uh, yeah, sorta."

Alright, FOURTH times the charm.

Cool, you're a black guy that lives in a remote part of Africa far away from civlized man. Freaking awesome background story there.

Let me guess, you're a badass shapeshifter or you can control animals...

OH OH I got it! You can call upon the powers of wild beasts to perform superhuman feats of strength and prowess!!

AWESOME, this show doesn't have ANYBODY who really fits the bill of total ASSKICKING LEGENDARY NINJA STATUS.

You're like Tarzan of Greystoke on super steroids: faster than a cheetah, stronger than an elephant, tougher than a rhinocerous and more ferocious and stately than a regal Saharan Lion!

"Uh... Yeah... I paint stuff from the future."

YOU ##### DO WHAT? DIDN'T the white YOU, like ##### DIE in the 1st SEASON? GOD DAMN IT, OH MOTHER ##### #####, #####, #####!!!!! AHHAHAHAHAAHAHHHHH!!!!!

MUST FIRE WRITERS!!!! REPLACE WITH WRITERS THAT ACTUALLY, YOU KNOW, KNOW HOW TO WRITE NEW MATERIAL!!!!!

That actually sounds like kind of a cool power. Talk about relating to real life...
