Please see message below re: USOC coverage and broadcast of the USA-NKF (WKF affiliate) US Open championship to be held in April.

This will be a precursor to the decision to be made later by the USOC to adopt karate into the Olympics.

Press Release – USOC to Broadcast USA OPEN


According to Luke St. Onge USA-NKF CEO the USOC intends to broadcast the USA OPEN event from Caesars Palace April 9-11, 2009. The USOC is moving forward with plans to produce competition content for the internet through the USOC's flagship website, TeamUSA.org. There is potential for more events being broadcast via the USOC who continually upgrade their web site to better meet the needs of the constituents.


The USA Open is one of the largest events of its kind drawing in elite athletes from around the world. With more than $14,000 in cash and prizes this event hosted at the beautiful Caesars Palace has quickly become on the best tournaments for competitors of all ages and skill levels. The finals will be held in the famous Colosseum, site of many famous boxing matches. Karate competition is raised to a higher level with this caliber of venue and USOC coverage.
