Summer Fest Fire Dragon Test
Summer Fest was a wonderful experience, even through the rain and chilly weather.
Sensei, Bill Glasheen, and most of us martial artists believe that staying physically fit is essential to us disciplined martial artists. Sensei Glasheen supports & encourage everyone (man, woman, child) to make fitness an integral part of your Uechi training and, because of this, came up with the Fire Dragon Test.
Sensei Bill could not make Summer Camp this year and asked me oversee the Fire Dragon Fitness test on Saturday. There was a last minute change and we moved it to a slightly different location. Those who qualified were presented with the Fire Dragon Fitness Crest and pins on Saturday night.
Announcing this event was new to me so I was a little out of my comfort zone. George asked me to keep it short since we had the Master's Test to do, which I did. However, I failed to acknowledge the awesome help I had. I could not have done this without the gracious support and efforts of the following people:
- John Page at the broad jump station
- David Lamb at the pull-up station
- Keith 'Bear' Frank at the 1 mile run
It was pleasure working with you guys. You are great and I truly appreciate all that you did.
Also, I wanted to thank the 4 people who have been preparing for this years test and participated.
- 10 year old, Marc Bacharach
- 13 year old, Dalton Bedard
- 34 year old, Adam Faurot
- 48 year old, Fedele Cacia
We had 4 different age categories represented, and all did a fantastic job. Keep up the hard work and discipline. We hope to see you back next year, breaking your previous record.
Along that line, I hope to see many more of you take the challenge next year. Please consider joining us for summer camp and next years Fire Dragon Test.
Also, Sensei Bill will comment on the test results soon.
Regards,
Vicki

Before going any farther, I want to thank Vicki for doing such a wonderful job on the FireDragon test.
This was actually the third time I have run this in absentia. Sue Dudley ran the test a few years ago at Massachusettes Maratime Academy when I had a family conflict. And George ran it once in Florida. The goal all along was to develop a "portable" test that could be run in most any place and evaluated with the right software. The first step has pretty much been accomplished. The latter is in progress - needing more data to validate the parameters chosen for the scoring algorithms.
Vicki ran this test without me - with no fuss. That was a first. And while she is hard on herself, I'm sure she did a wonderful job both in administering the test and announcing the results.
Thank you, Vicki!
More later.

Okay, I will try this again.
Sensei Bill, I sent this request 8 days ago and don't see any feedback from my email or this post. Did you not get them? Is this something you know how to do? If not, would you suggest someone that you would rather me send those photos to in order to post on this forum?
Please contact me (via email or text message) if, for some reason, you did not get what I sent. I will resend them.
Thank you,
Vicki

If you send the pictures to me Vicky, I'll put them up on the FireDragon site, along with the results. . . if Bill sends them to me.
