Apology to chef

Post by Bill Glasheen »

In another thread, Miss Vicki and I got into an exchange about why I had racy pictures of women with cigars. She was concerned and appeared to be disappointed in me.

The cigar in both its concrete and Freudian implications was a topic of the thread. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar is a saying attributed to Freud, and has specific meaning. The idea was a dominant metaphor for the thread. The spicy pictures of women - all with cigars - were a literary device to make a point. Did I get the audience's attention? Apparently; there are lots of hits on the thread. Some very smart people (plural) are sharing their ideas. In this way I succeeded.

Did I respond in a rough manner to Miss Vicki? Yes. The thread was getting a little testy because of some previous exchanges having nothing to do with Vicki. My inappropriate behavior was what you might call collateral damage.

There is no excuse.

I am sorry, Miss Vicki. I hope you will find it in your heart to forgive me.

Thank you for your indulgence.
