MSWORD and OFFICE re-installation

Post by maurice richard libby »

A couple of days ago I tried to install the SR-1 patch for Microsoft Office. Now, of course, nobady mentioned that id won't work on and OEM version, and thus it totally screwed up the whole thing. Of course that meant that I couldn't uninstall the patch or Office or Word using the 'uninstall' utility and had to do it by hand. Now, of course, I get an error message telling me that it can't find "findfast.exe" when I boot up. Of course it can't I it off with the rest of it.

The big problem is that when I try to re-install Office and Word from the CD-ROM I get the message "Setup will not work with your version of Windows"--Why the Hell not? it did before, and after all, it comes from the same CD_ROM that my version of windows comes from.

Help. please.

Hello both Maurice and Anthony.

I highly recommend WIN98 as an upgrade for windows users; it is slick and smooth.

However, it is still DOS and not a real operating system.

I am confused, Anthony; I thought win2K is NT5.0?
