Rich had a good idea about asking if anyone might like to see forums with new and or different directions. We have a couple of inactive forums which might be changed over as an alternative.
Some of the administrators discovered they tackled a bigger project than anticipated and might welcome the opportunity to pass the torch.
How do you feel about this?

Hello George.
My personal feelings is that there are so many individual forums (this site is HUGE) that it is difficult to visit everone as it is.
But the heathiest plants get pruned on occasion so they continue to grow, sprout new branches, and blossom to their fullest potential.
Please no one take offense. They are all great and I enjoy them ALL.
If some feel that it is time to move on and someone else wishes to tackle their niche and give it a different direction then
I favor the change and wish any newcomers my best.

True ! This is a big job , very much time consuming , and for the most part , thankless !
Also what turns some of us off is the fact we keep making it easier for the flamers to get on board with impunity , further robbing us , as administrators , of precious time ! What happens is that over the long run , administrators loose interest , and slowly vanish from the scene !

I will use the term reader rather than lurker.
As a reader I do appreciate all the work that Sensei Mattson and the
Moderators do to keep these forums running. And all the information the contributors make available to us.
If the flamers are a problem then lets not make it easier for them and go back to the registration of the name and the password thing. Moderators use the delete key to get rid of offending material, its your forum, we are guests in your house. I do not want to waste my time with a bunch of garbage.
This is a new type of communication and we must expect growing pains. I think its best if the problems can be discussed in an open forum and not in a limited access area.

Perhaps close the dwindling forums and leave only those that active. However, while I too at times cannot visit all the forums all of the time, I still like the idea of multiple options. I think you will find that this may have aided the growth and greater interest in this website.
So, here are some additional ideas:
* CROSS-TRAINING - seems to be a moderately popular topic. I know that since I cross-train, I would be a regular. I would like to recommend David Elkins Sensei as moderator/administrator who is a Nidan in Uechi and a very advanced pracitioner of Wing Chun Kung Fu. If Elkins-san moderates, an added attraction could be advanced weight lifting and dinosaur training methods.
* INTERNAL MARTIAL ARTS - I know that this has been a touchy subject and if we had a special forum, we are likely to attract even more troublesome post wars, but perhaps having a really good internal martial art(whatever that is!) practitioner as moderator would help who is not shy about establishing a moderate tone.
* THE HEALING ARTS - after all, Master Kanbun Uechi was a herbalist and involved in chinese medicine. I would think this a fairly open-ended arena, from first aid in the dojo, to Reiki, to massage therapy, to acupuncture, to yoga, etc.
Just some food for thought ...
