I've tried everything to rid my system of orphan files. After uninstalling a program, your system often retains large number of useless files that are stored in various places not associated with the original program.
Unfortunately, even if a program can isolate these files as 'orphans', deleting them could be costly. Often a dll is used by more than one program and the cleaning program is unable to determine which dll should be saved.
I came across a neat program in PC Magazine yesterday. "FindOrphans" locates these files and will store them in an Orphan Bin until you absolutely, positively know they are truly unneeded.
You can find this free program at http://wwwpcmag.com/utilities.
Let me know how you like this program.

Get rid of those orphan dll
A long time ago I used 2 programs somewhat similar. Uninstaller was one and find dll was the other. I would let the program find these orphaned dll's but then I would save them to a floppy disk just in case. So even if you think you are safe 2-6 months from now, you'll at least have comfort knowing you can fix that "missing dll" error.
