For some strange reason, all of the sudden IE5.5 (and 5.01 before that - updated last night) will not display gif's from my hard drive. Seems to work fine over the web. It won't even preview anything I make with a web animator. Netscape works fine. This started out of nowhere. Jpg's work. The files are all in the right directory.
Anybody got a clue? It's making it harder to work on websites.
Thanx,
Scott

IE5 and Gifs on local drive
Chuck,
IE works fine on the web, but when I work on a web page off line, it acts as if the gif's don't exist. I know they are there. When I create an animated gif with ulead, I can preview them through netscape but not IE. There is a function within the program to preview using either browser. Netscape reads the gifs offline just fine. Just IE is acting up. Online is OK though. I can read gif's through graphic programs.
I checked associations and I checked the options through IE. This is driving me nuts.

URL is normal. Since all files are in the same directory it's just an img src="filename.gif".
Netscape works fine. Only IE is doing this and only off line.
On my Ulead animated gif program, when you are done, you can preview your gif in either browser by clicking on the IE button or the Netscape button. When you click on the Netscape button, Netscape loads and displays your gif. When you click on the the IE button, the download window comes up asking you if you want to open the file or save to disk. I tried this program to see if I can get a gif to load off line.
The whole thing makes no sense. Online works perfect as if nothing is wrong. For now, I will use Netscape to check the pages I make and I'll upload them to the server then check it out with IE.
