HTML code vs. UBB

Post by Lori »

Just kind of an FYI here:

<u>Images:</u>
using the UBB code [ img ]filename[ /img ] works great AS LONG AS it is not an address starting with ftp. If it is, the only thing that will work is the HTML code of < IMG SRC=filename > - to which once posted, the UBB will convert to UBB code - but it will not work if you do that initially! I have no idea why - but as people are starting to post more images - if they are using an ftp site to host the image it will cause a lot of frustration.

<u>HTML not "turned on" for all forums:</u>
For some reason or another, I've noticed that HTML codes do not work on all the forums - most recently the VSD one. Given the higher reliablity of HTML formatting - and that I can use it in many places - I use that out of habit - but other HTML users take note - some forums will not recognize it.

Just sharing some painfully gained experience.

Maybe it's a default setting that was overlooked. If it's OK with George, I'll set it to allow HTML unless George wants to do it. I'll let him know.

Lori,

I found out it's up to the forum moderator

HTML code vs. UBB

Sometimes, I'll do a cut and paste from email or elswhere with complete disregard for adding ant tags whatsoever -- neither UBB nor HTML, and this forum app takes over and does the correct thing automatically.
