"So, tell me about yourself..."

First, I hate to hear those words. At any rate, a brief history of me:

As a computer junkie, I have been spending way too much time with computers ever since I found out that HP calculators were programmable. My first 'real' computer was a TI-99, and I soon graduated to an Atari ST. Since then I have built every PC I have owned, having started with a magnificent IBM PC-XT. I worked for 6 years as a mainframe computer operator, spent 3 years doing PC/network technical support, spent another 3 years as a network administrator, and am currently working as a network engineer, playing with Cisco routers and switches. I have been in the engineer phase for about 2 years, although I just moved to Richmond, VA back in February. I have my CCNA certification, and am working towards the CCNP, with an eye on possibly trying to get my CCIE somewhere down the road.

As for the martial arts, I have been a 'martial artist wannabe' as long as I can remember. It must have been 18 years ago that I started with Yoshukai karate, for about 2 months, before I had to move, and could no longer attend classes. Almost 15 years ago I started playing in the SCA, doing armored combat for about 6 years, with the occasional foray since then. About 10 years ago I began studying Wing Chun. I practiced diligently for about 1.5 years, at which time life got in the way, and my SCA and Wing Chun became very sporadic. And about 2 weeks ago, I began my study of Uechi-ryu, courtesy of Glasheen's Asian Arts. I am really enjoying Uechi-ryu, and have found a great deal of wonderful information on this web site. I am very happy to have become a part of the site in such a short time! I hope that I can make some valuable contributions.

Though my name is up as moderator of this forum, for all intents and purposes, it's yours to run as you see fit. I'm sure you will do a great job.

Have one, no. Use one, oh yeah. A friend and I ran a BBS(remember those?) on a C64, then graduated to a C128, and eventually upgraded that bad boy with a 1 meg floppy drive! Woohoo! Ah, the bad old days...

Those where the bad good ol' days!
I ran a BBS off a Amiga 2000, auto disconect after after 30minutes and 5 minute reconnect timers. People where glad to get on and didn't mind the dump after 30mins.
Nowadays they go screaming if they get dumped after 30 minutes of in activity! Go figure

With my C64, I ran The Misty Mountain BBS for about 3-4 years. I had a mighty Lt Kernel 20 Meg hard drive with a 2400 supra modem. That drive cost me like $749 back in the day. (It was nice to be single & free back then).
