Seriously, it all depends on what is available. I don't know anything about DirecTV's DSL in particular, but I was definitely happier with DSL than I have been with cable modems. Unfortunately I live in an area that is serviced via some fiber, instead of having all copper lines from the Central Office to my house, so there is no DSL available here. I highly recommend checking out www.dslreports.com for DSL recommendations. You can check to see who offers DSL in your area, and compare prices and things. Worth the time if you are in the market. It is by no means perfect, but it is a good start.Arnie
